San Gerardo Field Station

The San Gerardo field station is an adventure not to be missed! This rustic lodge, located in the heart of the Children's Eternal Rainforest, is accessible via a moderately challenging 3.5 kilometer walk from the Santa Elena Reserve. Located on the Caribbean slope at about 1,200 meters above sea level, this premontane rainforest has many epiphytes and a great variety of birds, frogs, reptiles, and mammals. The station offers lodging, meals, trails, and is an ideal starting point for exploring the surrounding forest. It is open all year round for tourists, student groups, and researchers.
