Learning about prehistoric Costa Rica in Chomes, Puntarenas
Walk through prehistoric Costa Rica in the Monteverde Megafauna Park adjacent to the Monteverde Restaurant on the left hand side of the North Pan American highway en route to Guanacaste, 17 kilometers after the entrance to the Mirarmar Shell Gas Station (15 minutes). The park is open every day from 8:00am to 5:00pm and offers tours on foot or in electric golf carts.
The park has:
1. A long trail of 1.7 kilometers, where you will be able to enjoy a diverse collection of statues (18 prehistoric animals as well as 8 animals that are in danger of extinction).
2. Identification of the main tree species that can be found along the trails.
3. Souvenir shop
4. Natural History Gallery
5. Butterfly Garden

Productores de Monteverde and the Monteverde Conservation Association joined forces to create the Megafauna Park. Part of the profits will be used for environmental education and reforestation projects. |
