Climate Change

Climate change has become a real issue for the entire globe over the recent years, and the Monteverde Conservation League is conscious of this. Not only are we committed to preserving and rehabilitating tropical rainforest ecosystems, but through reforesting degraded lands the MCL is doing its part in mitigating the effects of global climate change.

The MCL has planted over 1 million trees through the following reforestation projects:

  • Windbreaks on Farms
  • Project Forest in Farms
  • Rehabilitation of the Guacimal and La Tigra River Watersheds

In addition to fighting climate change through reforestation, the MCL organizes environmental education events with local students that cover not only the topic of climate change, but waste management and other important environmental issues. In this way, the future leaders of Costa Rica will be environmentally conscious and understand the global effects of development.
